Açai Fundraiser

This past November, we conducted our first major fundraiser of the seemsterfor our service club. At first, we had many ideas about what product would appeal most to students and teachers with a ramen fundraiser being done last year, but after taking input from our members, we came up with Açaí Bowls. Our reasoning for choosing this idea was based on its ability to be fully customizable, its popularity, and how it fits within a school environment.

The fundraiser was held in the high school foyer. Because the stand was open throughout the school day, students were able to stop by between classes and during breaks, giving nearly everyone an opportunity to learn more about our service club and what we do.

Each bowl cost $7 and came with two scoops of Açaí sorbet. As well, customers were given a choice of toppings to put on their Açaí Bowl, which contributed to the excitement during the event and provided our customers with many more choices than if they had purchased a pre-packaged bowl. Some of these included bananas, mixed frozen berries, Nutella, peanut butter, coconut flakes, chia seeds, granola, and many, many more.

Through organizing and running this fundraiser, we gained valuable insight into the planning and logistics behind hosting an event of this scale. We learned how much time is required for setup and teardown, as well as the importance of careful preparation when managing ingredients, supplies, and coordination. In the future, we hope to enhance the visual appeal of our stand with decorations and signage to attract even more attention.

As a result of all of these efforts, we sold $500 worth of Açaí Bowls. We are very pleased with the results of this event, and we feel that this success is due to the collaborative effort of all of our members. Everyone had the opportunity to fill a variety of different roles, from preparing the Açaí Bows to accepting payment for each order to maintaining an adequate stock of supplies and helping promote the Açaí Bowl stand. Teamwork was essential to our success during this event all together! We hope that more kids in India will be able to see better days because of what we did during these two days! We hope to see you next semester for something similar!
